Lab Policies
Please keep in mind that these procedures are in place for the safety of everyone.
1. Goggles will be worn when
any
liquid or chemical is being used.
2. Eating is not allowed. Keep all food away from work areas.
3. Follow
all
directions. Failure to do so may create an unsafe situation or necessitate that the experiment be repeated.
4. Ask questions and get clarification of any issues or concerns
before
beginning a procedure.
5. Bookbags coats and other items should be stored away from all working areas.
6. Clean up any spills and/or messy areas. It is neither safe nor reasonable to leave dirty work areas for other classes.
7. Return all items to their proper location.
8. Electronics such as cell phones and mp3 devices are not allowed in the lab areas.
9. Lab aprons and lab coats are available for your use.
10. Report any damaged equipment and broken glassware the teacher.
Do not
attempt to clean up broken glass.
Safety Consequences
Goggles Not Worn Over Eyes
1st Incident will result in a verbal warning.
Each
subsequent incident will result in a 5 point penalty.
Cleanup
A 10 point penalty will be assessed to each member of a group or table which was not cleaned or was inadequtely cleaned.
Dangerous and Unsafe Behaviors
Participation in the activity will be immediately terminated and a "0" will be entered as the grade for that activity.
